INDIANA'S STORY
The coming together of two Swiss companies, Micro and Indiana, marks an exciting milestone in the world of urban mobility and board sports. The partnership between Micro, the pioneer of micromobility, and Indiana, the renowned skateboard brand, is the result of a long-standing friendship between Wim Ouboter, the inventor of Micro, and Christof Peller, the founder of Indiana. The roots of this collaboration reach deep back to Lake Zurich, where both visionaries and pioneers grew up, with a shared vision for the sustainable "last mile of mobility". Wim Ouboter revolutionized urban mobility 25 years ago with the Micro Scooter, which has sold over 90 million units worldwide. Christof Peller, a passionate board sportsman, made his mark on the skateboard scene with the original Swiss products from Indiana, which were exported as far away as Japan.
The cooperation between Micro and Indiana is more than a business partnership; it is a combination of over 50 years of experience in the roller and board sports sector. Both companies not only share values such as sustainability, innovative spirit and commitment to quality, but also a passion for purist design that fits perfectly with urban mobility.
Micro takes over the worldwide distribution of Indiana skateboards and balance boards, and the collaboration combines the expertise of Wim Ouboter and Christof Peller to promote product development, distribution and marketing internationally. Despite this collaboration, Micro and Indiana remain independent companies. The skateboards and balance boards will continue to be produced in Europe and sold under the established brand name. The synergies between Micro and Indiana will strengthen product development and distribution to offer customers a wider range of high-quality and durable mobility products. With Micro's global distribution network in over 80 countries, Indiana is poised for expanded growth.
"We are proud to partner with Micro. We share the same passion for sustainability and quality and look forward to bringing our products to a wider audience," says Christof Peller, founder of Indiana.
This partnership is not just a merger of companies, but also a merger of friendship, innovation and shared values. Together, Micro and Indiana continue their journey to create high-quality and sustainable mobility products for the future.
Indiana & Co.
In 1989, Christof Peller built the first skateboards in his laundry room in Herrliberg, near Lake Zurich. This humble beginning gave rise to the international brand, Indiana Skateboards. The high quality of their products was evident when their team rider, Maurus Strobel, became the slalom skateboarding world champion in 2004 and 2005.
In 2010, the first Indiana stand-up paddleboard glided across Lake Zurich. Maurus and Christof co-founded Indiana SUP, capturing the attention of saltwater and freshwater beachgoers. Their paddleboards were known for their elegant yacht design and wood veneer.
As demand for stand-up paddleboards grew, customers sought more portable options. In 2014, Indiana introduced its first inflatable SUPs, making the sport more accessible. Indiana SUP has been at the forefront of this global movement, continually driving innovation with expert support.
Indiana SUP, as a nimble small business, regularly launched improved versions of their boards. Innovations included hollow carbon raceboards and inflatable fishing SUPs with outriggers. These boards are manufactured in specialized factories in Croatia and China.
Riding the wave of success, Indiana grew rapidly and established White Wave AG to manage its business. In 2017, Christof exited the SUP business to focus exclusively on Indiana Skateboards.
